The School of Nursing has provided nursing education continuously for over 50 years. The body of knowledge for nursing is derived from nursing theories, research, and clinical practice. North Carolina A&T's School of Nursing extends that body of knowledge by providing a foundation for graduate preparation in nursing and lifelong learning. Students synthesize knowledge from the liberal arts, biological and physical sciences, social sciences and nursing as a foundation for generalist nursing practice. The graduate of the School of Nursing will be positioned to contribute to the advancement of the nursing profession by use of research and management skills.
The program combines the unique resources of the University with those of multiple
healthcare delivery systems. Internal and external collaborative relationships are
formed that enhance student and faculty competencies in a dynamic evolving culture
of rapid scientific and technological advances, community-based practice settings,
and changing concepts of health and nursing.
The School of Nursing offers a Baccalaureate in nursing and is fully accredited by the
National League for Nursing. Students are admitted to the School of Nursing from
different levels of achievement and academic backgrounds. Our commitment remains
constant to educating students whose promise of an education may be inhibited by
lack of economic, social, and educational resources. The School of Nursing prides
itself on producing qualified nurses for the community and the world.
Currently the School of Nursing offers two paths to enter the BSN program, the on
campus program or one of four BSN completion options for those already working in
health care: RN to BSN, LPN to BSN, Military Medical Specialists, and Surgical
Technologist.
