MILITARY MEDICAL PERSONNEL:
The School of Nursing at NC A&T is the only university in North Carolina that
works directly with the Army Commissioning Enlisted Program (ACEP).
The SON also works with the US Navy's Medical Enlisted Commissioning
Program (MECP) and the US Air Force Program. Medical Specialists in the
Armed Forces are evaluated on an individual basis, but generally earn credit
for 9 semester hours through completion of the appropriate ACE (American
Education Counsel) Credit Recommendation.
SURGICAL TECHNOLOGIST:
In August of 2005, the School of Nursing at NCA&T began an innovative
program to assist Surgical Technologists (S-Ts) to achieve a BSN degree.
The program is designed to offer all nursing coursework and clinical
experiences in the evenings and/or weekends to allow S-Ts to continue to
work in their settings. In order to provide coursework at non-traditional times,
S-T students are admitted only as a cohort group. In general, their classes are
held at different times than the generic students. We expect to begin the next
cohort for Surgical Technologist in the fall of 2008.
The S-T students are required to complete all undergraduate pre-requisite
courses before they apply for admission to the upper division nursing program.
Experience with the first class has demonstrated that S-T students should
complete all pre-requisite courses prior to beginning the nursing courses, and
this will be a requirement for admission to the fall of 2008 S-T cohort.
