Sigma Theta Tau is the International Honor Society for nursing.  It's purposes are
to:  (1) recognize the achievement of scholarship or superior quality; (2) recognize the
development of leadership qualities; (3) foster high professional standards; (4) encourage
creative work; and (5) strengthen commitment on the part of individuals to the idea and
purposes of the nursing profession.  Mu Tau Chapter at North Carolina A & T selects
qualified members  annually. 


Student Membership

Students with a Grade Point  Average (GPA) of at least 3.0 are eligible, but only 35% of
the class can be  admitted. 

 
Nurses with a minimum of a baccalaureate in nursing and who have demonstrated marked
achievement in education, practice, research, administration, or publication may be
nominated for membership.

The candidate will need to submit:
 
1.  Community Leadership Membership Form with details of recent contributions in
     area of achievement.  Nurses with a minimum of a baccalaureate in nursing and
     who have demonstrated marked achievement in education, practice, research,
     administration, or publication may be nominated for membership. 
2.  Two letters of endorsement from active members of Sigma Theta Tau International,
     Inc addressing the person's achievement in professional nursing.
