T Moses Cone~ Wesley Long Community Health Foundation
Vic Nussbaum Nursing Scholarship.

The Vic Nussbaum Nursing Scholarship was established in 2001 to recognize a giant
in our community. A three-term mayor, who served 14 years on the Greensboro City
Council, Nussbaum was a community advocate, a community resource and a
community treasure. He was known as an astute businessman and a successful
entrepreneur. But he was so much more than that. In his huge frame was lodged a
huge heart that was filled with compassion, caring and a call to action. Vic didn't just
recognize the challenges in our community; he worked to do something about them.
Vic's legacy is the love he had for Greensboro and for those people who needed a
hand. Vic was a founding member of the Moses Cone ~ Wesley Long Community
Health Foundation. He recognized, early on, the marriage between safe, affordable
housing (his life-long passion) and health in a way that was visionary and inspirational.
Upon his death the Board of Directors sought to do something that would recognize
this exceptional leader in a significant and on-going way. Consequently, the Board
approved the creation of the Vic Nussbaum Nursing Scholarship to provide financial
aid to support a student or students pursuing a degree in nursing.
